This volume has two different arcs, and shows who Namor is as a king and a leader. It can get a bit confusing at times which requires a re-read, but it's an overall good story. If your new to the character of recommendation d this volume as opposed to Volume 1, as you learn much about Jamie's supporting cast. I did gripe about the art though, as I believe there different artists were a part of this series.Product details

For the most part, this is a direct mirror to Jason Aaron's Wolverine Vol. 1 Wolverine Goes to Hell storyline. We see Namor suffer through Hell (The Literal one), confront his inner demons, and escape. There are some truly psychologically terrible moments in this arc. Olivetti's art is wonderful and detailed. If you picked up Namor The First Mutant - Volume 1 Curse of the Mutants, this is a good second arc to check out.
Namor is generally one of the strongest characters in the Marvel pantheon, but apart from some nice art from Ariel Olivetti for a couple of issues - there's nothing to carry the man from Atlantis and the storyline by Stuart Moore. Antonio Fuso takes over the art and delivers a very clunky looking Namor.
While trying to take the book and the character in a new direction, this collection of stories lacks the drama that we've come to expect from Namor. He's still the arrogant anti-hero he's always been, but the set of characters around him are generally uninteresting and undramatic. Intrigue and mistrust have always been key themes in the Submariner world but this book abandons those traits and we are left with some throwaway material.
In sum, this is probably the worst Namor book I have read ever. Not recommended!
Whether you are a fan of this character or a casual reader looking for a change, this is a book that you should try. The writing and art are excellent and should please even the worst critics. On this book, provides a great price as well as expedient delivery. Go get one and enjoy
I read comics until I entered high school and was particularly fond of Namor. When i found out he'd been "resurrected" in the 60's I wanted to find out if he'd changed. BOY! had he! I prefer the old version- especially how he'd been drawn. I dislike that hair he has now. But it's fun to see the new versions of old favorites.
